Posting their first-ever winning record against the mighty Yankees, the 1959 Baltimore Orioles paced the American League with 12 shutouts en route to a respectable 74-80 mark. The offered team photograph depicts those ’59 O’s in their since-razed Memorial Stadium setting. Issued by Gunther Beer (which had a sizable ad atop the center field scoreboard), the colorful piece is wood framed to 25-1/2 x 36-3/4" with moderate perimeter wear and shows four rows of Orioles players/personnel. Among the notable subjects are Ernie Harwell, Milt Pappas, Hoyt Wilhelm and a youthful Brooks Robinson. While some creases are visible upon close examination, the item displays wonderfully. In addition to familiar faces in their colorful Orioles attire, telltale Charm City elements such as the majestic light towers and Waverly/Ednor gardens row houses accent the background in a scene that smacks of “Bal’mer.”
