A multi-position talent who played in six postseasons for three different franchises, Merv Rettenmund took his hitting expertise into the dugout as he served in a mentor capacity for the 2001 Atlanta Braves. During that season, Rettenmund wore this Braves home jersey. The white knit button-down garment features “Braves” angled across the chest in red-on-blue twill, with a tomahawk logo sewn just below with embroidered yellow accents. On the back, “28” is sewn in red-on-blue twill and “RETTENMUND” is arched on a nameplate just above in solid blue twill. Red-and-blue piping lines the collar, button path and sleeve endings, while a baseball-themed patch with “41” embroidered in blue is sewn to the left sleeve in honor of deceased franchise great Eddie Mathews. An MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back, while the left front tail is home to a “Russell Athletic” label and a size “46” fabric content flap tag. All original and unaltered, the jersey shows light wear.
