As the Yankees annually fed off of Mickey Mantle’s tape-measure home runs and World Series heroics, New York’s Irwin Corporation cashed in on the Hall of Famer’s popularity, as well. Marketed in 1957, this “Switch-Hitter” indoor and outdoor batting practice set was all the rage for youngsters attempting to duplicate Mantle’s longball prowess. This well-maintained example is complete with its plastic ball launcher, (3) plastic balls and original cord/rubber bulb. The bulb has dried and hardened over time. The original box, meanwhile, looks brand new with sturdy panels and minimal wear! The original instructions sheet accompanies.
