Description

A mainstay on pennant-winning Baltimore pitching staffs in both 1979 and 1983, durable southpaw Mike Flanagan schooled opposing batters with a devastating curve ball and kept the Oriole clubhouse loose with his sharp wit. This Orioles home jersey was worn by “Flanny” during the 1984 season, a campaign in which he logged 10 complete games and shutout division champions Detroit and Kansas City. The white knit button-down garment features twill identifiers, proper “Rawlings” tagging and an Orioles “30th Anniversary” logo patch on the left sleeve. All original and unaltered, the jersey shows moderate wear. More on our website.

The white knit button-down garment features “Orioles” angled across the chest on orange-on-black twill, “46” sewn to the back and left front and “FLANAGAN” arched on a nameplate atop the back number in like fashion. The club’s 30th anniversary logo patch is sewn to the left sleeve, while the tapered left front tail’s interior is home to a “Rawlings” size “44” label and “SET 1 1984” flap tag. Black-white-and-orange striped stretch knit lines the sleeve endings, while black-and-orange stretch ribbed knit lines the collar.

Flanagan’s 13-13 record that year belied his overall performance, as the Orioles scored three runs or fewer in 18 of his 34 starts. Flanagan also posted a 3-1 mark against the world champion Detroit Tigers. Forever loved and sorely missed in the Oriole community, Flanagan remains a franchise legend for his on-field performance, interactions with teammates/fans and classic comedic style. This is a great addition to any Cy Young or Orioles collection.
