Description

It’s well documented that Pro Football Hall of Famer Bert Bell led the University of Pennsylvania Quakers to the 1917 Rose Bowl and later served as Commissioner of the NFL and made that institution the most preeminent sports attraction in America. In between, Bell was the co-founder of the Philadelphia Eagles. In that capacity, he signed these (38) team payroll checks. Drawn from the team’s account, the vouchers date from 1939-1940 and are signed “de Benneville Bell” in black ink on the appropriate line (average “9” strength).
