Hot on the trail of a second World Series ring and membership in the esteemed 500 Home Run Club, “The Crime Dog” was dealt to the Chicago Cubs on July 27, 2001 and, though he fell just short in both those quests, had a productive season as he wore this Cubs home jersey. The white knit garment features twill and embroidered identifiers, as well as proper “Majestic” tagging. Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema. More on our website.

The white knit button-down garment features a blue pinstripe pattern, a “CUBS” logo embroidered in blue and red to a white twill plate on the left breast, as well as a team logo patch sewn to the left sleeve in like fashion. On the back, “29” is sewn in blue-on-red twill and “McGRIFF” is arched just above in like fashion. An MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back, while the left front tail is home to a “Majestic” label and size ‘46” flap tag. Within the left side seam, a fabric content tag has a “0062” gamer code. At the time he was dealt to Chicago, McGriff went from the last-place Tampa Bay Devil Rays (who were 33-70 and 29 games out) to the first-place Cubs (who were 60-42 and four games up). In 49 games with the Cubs that year, McGriff mixed 12 home runs into a .282 mark.

All original and unaltered, the jersey shows light wear and was likely worn soon after his arrival to Wrigley Field. It was definitely not worn after September 11, as the MLB silhouette logo is not covered by an American flag patch, which was standard throughout Major League Baseball following the 9-11 attacks. Comes with a full photo LOA from Dave Miedema, as well as an LOA from Chicago Cubs Home Clubhouse Manager Tom Hellmann.
