Marvel at the “Amazin’ Mets” all over again. Presented is a 1969 New York Mets World Champions collection of (18). Key items are 36x21 Team Photo Poster: signed by (22) average (“8-9”) with HOFers Berra, Ryan and Seaver and a Team-Signed Ball: with (23) autographs (average “8-10”, (3) lesser/faded) including keys Agee, Clendenon, Jones and Koosman. The signed poster is from the “Magical Moments in Mets History” sponsored by Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, (VG-EX) with glossy surface, shows overall light wear, no pinholes. Complete list of signers is: Y. Berra, D. Cardwell, D. Clendenon, J. Deer, J. DiLauro, W. Garrett, G. Gentry, J. Grote, B. Harrelson, C. Jones , J. Koosman, E. Kranepool, J.C. Martin, J. McAndrew, T. McGraw, B. Pfeil, N. Ryan, T. Seaver, R. Swoboda, R. Taylor, A. Weis, E. Yost.
The signed ball is a Rawlings ONL/Giamatti model (“8”) with off-white panels and tight red stitching. As stated above the signatures average (“8-10”) strength with deference to (3) lesser which are faded as noted below. The complete list of signers is: north panel: E. Charles, W. Garrett, D. Cardwell, J. DiLauro, R. Walker, J.C. Martin, J. Pignatano, E. Yost; south panel: C. Koonce (faded, “3-4”), J. Koosman, T. Agee, R. Taylor, J. McAndrew, K. Boswell; east panel: A. Jackson, D. The WS program has vivid cover colors and very attractive original gloss with a solid spine and presents above the assigned technical grade of (VG-EX) attributable to light peripheral wear. The scorecard pages are recorded neatly in pencil.
The (3) WS ticket stubs display appealing original gloss and feature “Mr. Met” images against colorful backgrounds. The technical average (VG) grades are due to corner creases which have little impact on these handsome collectibles.
The (12) Volpe tumblers feature Mets art portraits. All portraits are very appealing, however most tumblers have cracks in the clear plastic outer casings which do not diminish their dynamic display appeal. Included are Y. Berra (several cracks), L. Bearnarth, J. Fisher (one crack), R. Gardner (one small crack), J. Hickman, R. Hunt (several cracks), E. Kranepool, J. Lewis (two small cracks), T. McGraw (one very small crack), R. McMillan (two cracks which go through outer clear in inner white casings), D. Stuart (two very small cracks) and R. Swoboda.
