Class of 2001 Hall of Famer! Hilton Smith was a cornerstone to several Kansas City Monarchs pitching staffs and is known for a dazzling curve which befuddled many a slugger. Graded 20 Fair 1.5 by SGC. This 1949-50 Toleteros sample depicts Smith during his tenure with a Cuban Winter League squad. The diminutive black-and-white portrait is crease-free with evenly worn corners, slightly askew centering and a crease-free obverse. The bright red reverse conceals traces of glue residue which accounts for the technical appraisal. This item has a reserve. Estimated value ($1500-2000).
