Hall of Famer Stan Musial wasted little time establishing himself, winning two batting titles and two MVP honors in his first four full seasons. The Cardinals, too, excelled, winning four National League pennants and three World Series titles during that span. And while Musial was to never return to October glory over his 22-year career, his skills never waned in the least. This full Sportsman’s Park ticket was issued for one of Musial’s final performances and has been autographed by the Gateway City great. Issued for the September 9, 1963 game vs. the Chicago Cubs, the “Field Box” voucher features printed seating/event details and the facsimile signature of club president August Busch. On the obverse, Musial has signed in blue marker (“10” strength). The Cardinals won their third of ten straight games that night to pull within three games of the front-running Los Angeles Dodgers (the Redbirds would be within a game at the end of that 10-game surge). A 2-8 swoon ensued, however, leaving the Cards six games off the pace at season’s end. In the September 9 triumph, Musial delivered the 3,615th hit of his illustrious career. The crease-free ticket presents at the (NM) plateau and comes with a cert and sticker from JSA.
