Description

Trailing the upstart Atlanta Braves by 6-1/2 games as play began on August 11, 1983, the Los Angeles Dodgers went on a torrid 15-3 run to take over the top spot and never looked back, winning their fourth National League West crown in seven seasons. These (2) ONL Feeney baseballs are autographed by members of that Chavez Ravine roster. Includes:

1983 Los Angeles Dodgers Team-Signed Ball: a lightly toned ONL Feeney sphere (grade “6”) signed in black ballpoint (average “5-6” strength) by: Sweet Spot: Lasorda (manager); North Panel: Mota (coach), Russell, Yeager and R. Roenicke; South Panel: Landreaux, Fernandez, Howe, Scioscia and Stewart; West Panel: unidentified, Amalfitano (coach), Cresse (coach), Reyes, Niedenfuer and Monday; East Panel: unidentified, Thomas, Maldanado, Guerrero and Hooton; Reverse Sweet Spot: Marshall

1983 Los Angeles Dodgers Team-Signed Ball: a lightly toned ONL Feeney orb (grade “5-6”) signed in black ballpoint (average “7-8” strength) by: Sweet Spot: Lasorda (manager); North Panel: Ruess, Taveras and Baker; South Panel: Morales, Thomas and Guerrero; West Panel: Zachry, Cataline, Brock and Monday; East Panel: Peña, Valenzuela, Welch and Sax

(Note: this ball was likely signed during the club’s spring training session, as Cataline played for the team’s Class A Florida State League Vero Beach affiliate that year, but did not appear with the parent club.)

Auction LOA from JSA. The uniform numbers have been added to the signatures (in an unknown hand).
