Feast on this pairing of multi-signed 1960 and 1964 MPBPA “Tops in Sports” banquet programs. Top honors go the 1964 program signed by (10) HOFers/others average (“7-9”) with: H. Armstrong, H. Aaron, S. Barber, J. DiMaggio, J. MacLean, L. MacPhail, J. Neun, T. Phoebus, B. Robinson and D. Tobin. Gracing the 1960 program are (10) HOFers/others average (“7-9”) with: B. Allison, E. Face, J. MPBPA stands for Maryland Professional Baseball Players Association. The 1964 program has (5) signatures on the cover and (5) interior pages signed by award winners including Aaron, Barber, DiMaggio, Neun and Phoebus. All of the signatures on the 1960 program are on the back cover. H. Armstrong is the founder of the MPBPA. L. MacPhail is Lee son of Larry and former AL President. J. MacLean was a sportscaster. B. Goss is listed as “Sports Commentator-National Brewing Co.”. D. Tobin's profession is undetermined, however his name and Florida address are also handwritten at the top of the 1964 program. His signature appears as “Dick “Kozo” Tobin”. There was an Irish “Hurler” named Dick Tobin but he passed away in 1953. Branch Rickey needs no introduction. All of the other signers were MLB players/managers. The 1964 program also bears an unknown penning which reads “To Reds, Ray”.
