Supplanting the Yankees as baseball’s juggernaut, the 1929 Philadelphia Athletics won their first of three successive American League pennants and disposed of the curse-stricken Chicago Cubs in the Fall Classic. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Chicago’s Wrigley Field for Game 2 of that World Series, a 9-3 Athletics rout that saw Hall of Famers Jimmie Foxx and Al Simmons hit home runs. This is the lone graded specimen.
Remnants of what appears to be an adhesive agent account for the technical assessment. Though an immaculate reverse and sharp edges/corners are nicer than those found on most full vouchers from this and subsequent eras. The obverse features printed seating/event details, a likeness of Wrigley Field and the facsimile signature of Cubs president William Veeck, Sr.
