Coming off a 1927 World Series sweep and perhaps the greatest season of all time the New York Yankees repeated in 1928 with a second consecutive WS sweep. Hawked at Yankee Stadium the offered 1928 WS program presents in very appealing (GD-VG) condition with a vertical compacting fold. Gracing the cover are portrait images of HOF managers Huggins and McKechnie. Bolstering interest in this significant souvenir are two interior team portrait pages with the Yankees page featuring the celebrated “Murderer’s Row” line-up. More on our website.
Minimally affecting the cover of this important program is a 1-1/4 x 1/4” section of surface paper loss at lower left, radiating horizontally from the spine. Front and back covers retain nice original gloss. The centerfold is detached and present. The scoring sections list rosters for the participating WS teams and are not scored. Two interior team composite photo pages are highlighted by the presence of (15) HOFers with Yankees: Combs, Dickey, Durocher, Gehrig, Hoyt, Huggins, Lazzeri, Pennock, Ruth; Cardinals: Alexander, Bottomly, Frisch, Hafey, Haines, Maranville. Also featured are a full page Ruth cigarette endorsement ad and a bio page for opposing managers Huggins and McKechnie.
