From the “Gashouse Gang” to the “Whiz Kids,” the subjects in this lot of (7) autographed keepsakes span the turn of the century to the 1960s. Potent scriptings carry tremendous “break” value and include:
Hugh Duffy: framed to 8-1/2 x 13”, Duffy’s black-ink fountain pen cut signature projects (“9”) strength and clarity. The display is accented by Duffy’s Yellow Hall of Fame Plaque Postcard.
Bob Feller: framed to 8-1/4 x 10-1/8”, a vintage black-and-white photo (3x5 visible area) is signed by Feller in blue ink (“7-8” strength) with a “Best Wishes” salutation.
Frankie Frisch: framed to 12x15 under white-on-red matting, a vintage published full-page color illustration of Frisch is signed in blue ink (“9-10” strength). Frisch has also personalized the piece and inscribed “The Old Flash.” The page has compacting folds and tape remnants, none of which affect Frisch’s bold signature.
Goose Goslin: a 5x3 index card signed on the blank side in black-ink fountain pen (“9” strength). The item is adhered to an unevenly trimmed thick cardboard backing. JSA cert/sticker
Robin Roberts: framed to 10-1/2 x 14-1/2”, Roberts’ blue ballpoint cut signature resonates (“9-10”) quality and is accented by his Yellow hall of Fame Plaque Postcard.
Casey Stengel: a 5x3 blank index card is signed by Stengel in black-ink steel tip fountain pen (“10” strength). This vintage signature was likely rendered between 1938 and 1940, as evidenced by the writing instrument and inscription (in an unknown hand) of “Manager Boston Bees – “ in the lower left corner. JSA cert/sticker
Lloyd Waner: a black business card signed by Waner in black ink (“9-10” strength) and inscribed “Pittsburgh Pirates.” JSA cert/sticker
