Description

Riding high following their unforgettable 1960 World Series upset of the New York Yankees dynasty, the 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates took time to make a lucky fan happy by signing the offered Spalding OLL baseball. Displaying average (6-8) autograph quality this significant (7) grade sphere shows minor soiling which has minimal impact the blue ballpoint pen signatures. Marquee autographs are HOFers Roberto Clemente (d.1972) and Bill Mazeroski who hit a dramatic series clinching homer to topple the mighty Yankees in the 60 WS. The complete list of signers is as follows: Sweet Spot: manager Murtaugh (d.1976); North Panel: Sturdivant, Nelson, Smith, Mizell (d.1999), Stuart, Logan; South Panel: Skinner, Haddix, Labine, Francis, Leppert, Hoak (d.1969), Face; East Panel: unknown, Schofield, Virdon, Mazeroski , Groat, Friend; West Panel: Moryn, Shantz, Gibbon, Clemente, Christopher.
