It has been documented that while off the baseball diamond, Ty Cobb appeared ill at ease, glancing sideways and hiding his hands in pockets or behind his back, as if in defense of his inadequacies away from baseball. In his element, however, Cobb was a commanding figure, tormenting opponents and reaching base almost at will. His amazing consistency is also reflected in his coveted autograph which, often was executed in green ink and accented by a trademark paraph. Such is the case with this 1959 Cobb penning. Encapsulated and assessed “Authentic” by PSA/DNA, this Cobb signature projects (“9-10”) strength and clarity and is accompanied by his inscription of “7/6/59.” Framed to 22-5/8 x 26-5/8”, the display is accented by (2) black-and-white photos of Cobb.
