Taking a page from history the U.S. Government resurrected our hard fought past to garner support for WWII efforts. Offered is a 1943 War Bonds poster featuring a sketch type image of Abraham Lincoln between the title “This World Cannot Exist Half Free and Half Slave” and the slogan “Buy War Bonds”. Measuring 29-1/2 x 40”, this significant piece of propaganda is solid and very appealing with deference to a 2-1/2 x 1/2” segment of tape residue at lower left which does not affect the Lincoln image or lettering. More on our website.

The title of this poster paraphrases Lincoln’s famous 1858 “House Divided” speech. Provenance at bottom center reads “U.S. Government Printing Office: 1943-O-503943 WSS 732-A”. Also present are typical pinholes and minor wear on the compacting folds including a 1” split on the center horizontal fold at the junction of the vertical fold on the right. These conditions have minimal impact on the dynamic appeal of this important historical relic.
